TIOmarkets Trading Fees Explained: Spreads, Commissions & Swaps
BY TIOmarkets
|March 2, 2026Understanding the full cost of trading before you open an account is essential.
With TIOmarkets, the main trading fees are spreads, commissions (on certain accounts), and swap charges for overnight positions. There are also funding fees worth being aware of. This article covers each cost in plain terms using information published on the TIOmarkets website.
The Main Types of Trading Fees
TIOmarkets outlines four categories of trading-related costs on its trading fees page: spreads, commissions, swaps, and funding fees. Each is explained below.
Spreads
What Is a Spread?
The spread is the difference between the buy price (ask) and the sell price (bid) for any instrument. As described on the TIOmarkets trading fees page, the bid is the lower price and is the price at which you can sell. The ask is the higher price and is the price at which you can buy. The difference between these two prices is the spread.
In forex trading, the spread is typically expressed in pips or points. When you open a trade, you enter at the ask price. When you close, you exit at the bid price. The spread is therefore a cost incurred on every trade, because the price must move in your favour by at least the distance of the spread before the trade reaches break even.
How TIOmarkets' Spreads Work
TIOmarkets offers variable spreads on all accounts. Spreads are sourced from TIOmarkets' liquidity providers and fluctuate with market conditions. As stated on the TIOmarkets trading fees page, factors that affect spreads include supply and demand, available liquidity in the market, market volatility, important news releases, and the time of day.
Spreads on TIOmarkets accounts start from the following levels:
- Standard account: from 1.1 pips
- Raw account: from 0.0 pips
- VIP Black account: from 0.3 pips
These are the minimum spread levels under normal market conditions. Actual spreads at any given time will vary. Spreads may widen significantly during major news events, periods of low liquidity, or outside regular trading hours.
Commissions
What Is a Trading Commission?
A commission is a fee charged per trade, separate from the spread. Not all TIOmarkets accounts charge a commission. The commission structure depends on which account type you are trading on.
As described on the TIOmarkets trading fees page, commissions on MT4 and MT5 are fixed and charged per round turn lot. A round turn lot covers both the opening and the closing of a standard lot position.
Commission by Account Type
- Standard account: $0 commission
- Raw account: $6 per round turn lot
- VIP Black account: $0 commission
The Raw account example on TIOmarkets' trading fees page illustrates how this scales with trade size: a 1.0 lot round turn incurs $6 in commission, a 0.1 lot round turn incurs $0.60, and a 0.01 lot round turn incurs $0.06.
For traders on the Standard or VIP Black accounts, the spread is the only direct per-trade cost. For Raw account traders, both the spread and the commission need to be factored into the total cost of each trade.
How Commission Affects Total Trading Cost
On commission-based accounts like the Raw account, the tighter spread may offset the per-trade commission depending on trade frequency and lot size. TIOmarkets notes on its trading fees page that fixed commissions provide predictability: you know precisely what will be charged for each transaction, which can be useful when planning trades.
The total all-in cost of a Raw account trade is the spread at the time of execution plus the $6 round turn commission. Whether this works out lower than the spread-inclusive cost of the Standard or VIP Black account depends on the spreads achieved and your average trade size. This is worth calculating for your own trading style before choosing an account.
Swaps
What Is a Swap?
A swap (also called a rollover charge) is the interest credited or debited when a position is held open overnight. As explained on the TIOmarkets trading fees page, swaps are based on the interest rates set by central banks for the currencies or instruments involved.
Whether a swap is positive or negative on a given position depends on the direction of the trade and the interest rate differential between the two currencies. For example, if you are long a currency with a higher interest rate against one with a lower rate, you may receive a positive swap. If the differential works against your position, a negative swap will be charged.
How TIOmarkets Applies Swaps
TIOmarkets credits or debits swaps to open positions at 22:00 GMT daily, which TIOmarkets considers the close of the trading day. On Wednesdays, a triple swap is typically applied to account for the weekend period when markets are closed. As noted on the TIOmarkets trading fees page, the triple swap day can vary depending on the instrument.
Swap amounts are expressed in pips or points. The lot size of the position and the holding duration both determine how much is credited or debited in total. Swaps apply for as long as a position remains open.
To view current swap rates for specific instruments, TIOmarkets recommends right-clicking on the symbol in the MT4 or MT5 market watch window and selecting "Specification."
Islamic (Swap-Free) Account
TIOmarkets offers an Islamic account option for eligible traders on eligible instruments, which operates without swap charges. Traders who require a swap-free account should contact TIOmarkets support after registration to confirm eligibility.
Unlimited Leverage and Swaps
Traders using TIOmarkets' unlimited leverage feature on the Standard account should be aware that no positive swaps are applied to unlimited leverage symbols. This is a specific condition of that feature and is separate from standard swap treatment.

TIOmarkets publishes the following funding fee schedule on its trading fees page.
